Due to the Brexit vote on the 23rd June, Prime Minister David Cameron announced that he would step down and he will now do so this Wednesday, making way for Theresa May to move into his the position.
Conservative lawmaker Andrea Leadsom had already pulled out of the race after Boris Johnson earlier and that has left Home Secretary Theresa May as the only candidate able to replace Cameron as Conservative leader and prime minister.
Cameron approved Leadsom’s decision to and said that May has “the overwhelming support” of Conservative lawmakers.
Cameron announced that he will attend a final session of prime minister’s questions in the House of Commons on Wednesday before going to visit Queen Elizabeth II and tendering his resignation.
